Information Provided by Visitors
Search requests
When a name, place, or other search term is entered into a search tool, that request is sent to the independent provider operating the tool. Columbia County Busted Mugshots does not store or keep a log of those search terms on its own systems. The receiving provider handles the request under its own terms and privacy practices.
Messages sent to us
An email or message sent through a contact channel may include a name, email address, and the contents of the message. That information is retained only as reasonably needed to respond, keep a record of the exchange, or meet a legal obligation. It is not shared outside the organization unless a valid legal requirement calls for disclosure.
Technical Details Collected During Visits
Like most online services, the site and its service providers may receive routine technical information when a browser requests a page. This information helps maintain availability, understand traffic patterns, and diagnose errors.
- The internet protocol address associated with the connection.
- Browser name, version, and language settings where available.
- Device type, operating system, and approximate display characteristics.
- Pages viewed and the time spent on those pages.
- The referring page or service, if one was supplied by the browser.
- Visit dates, times, and related diagnostic timestamps.
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies and similar browser technologies may be used to understand site use, remember limited preferences, measure performance, and support advertising. A browser can usually block or clear cookies through its settings. Some features or measurement functions may work differently after cookies are blocked.
How Information Is Used
Information is used for ordinary operating purposes, not as an official records system. In particular, it may help the site:
- Keep pages available and responsive.
- Send a search request to the service selected by the visitor.
- Understand which information and links visitors use most often.
- Identify faults, abuse, and security concerns.
- Display advertising that may be based on general browsing interests.
External Services and Advertisers
Links may lead to official public resources and separate services, including the Columbia County daily booking report, VINE, Sheriff Records, Wisconsin Department of Corrections resources, and Wisconsin circuit-court case search. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy rules and data practices control. Columbia County Busted Mugshots does not control those destinations, their availability, or their handling of visitor information.
Advertising providers may use their own technologies to measure activity across online services or select advertisements. Any such collection occurs on the provider's systems and is governed by that provider's notices and controls. Official records linked here are also governed by the responsible public office and the applicable Wisconsin public-records framework, including Wis. Stat. ยง 19.35.
When Data May Be Shared
Personal information is not sold. Limited information can be disclosed to the following recipients when necessary for the stated purpose or required by law:
- Search partners that receive a visitor's submitted query.
- Analytics vendors that help measure site traffic and performance.
- Advertising networks that serve or measure advertisements.
- Law enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order or other binding legal process.
Safeguards and Limits
Reasonable administrative and technical practices are used to protect information handled by the site. No internet-connected service can promise complete security, however, and no method of transmission or storage is guaranteed to prevent every unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure.
Visitors Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent, guardian, or minor who believes that a minor provided personal information may contact us to request its deletion where reasonably possible.
Choices About Personal Information
Subject to applicable law and practical recordkeeping needs, a visitor may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal information held by the site.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Request deletion of information that is no longer needed.
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where that option is available.
