About This Site

Columbia County Busted Mugshots is a private reference resource for locating official Wisconsin record channels. It brings together the differences between a county booking entry, current custody, a court case, and state corrections. It does not operate a government database or display booking-photo galleries.

Official Record Paths, Clearly Separated

Arrest and booking information can sit in more than one public system. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Jail Bookings page and its daily PDF describe recent booking events, while the Sheriff’s records process is the route for an underlying county record that is not published in that report. The observed daily report is text-only, so it is not a public photo roster.

Current custody is a separate question. Columbia County directs people to VINELink for custody and release notifications. A later public case can be located through Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, often called CCAP or WCCA. If someone has moved into state corrections custody or supervision, the relevant state channel is the Wisconsin DOC offender locator, not the county booking report.

Those distinctions shape the material collected here. The resource identifies official source pages, explains what each source can and cannot show, and points out when a city police record, county booking record, court case, or DOC record is the better match. It hosts no booking photographs, arrest-record files, roster data, or photo gallery of its own.

What the Resource Includes

The Columbia County material is organized around real records questions rather than copied arrest content. The primary pages and city pages provide context for the appropriate official source without presenting a person’s record as a conclusion about that person.

  • The home page’s official booking, custody, court, and records-request paths for Columbia County.
  • Separate city pages for Portage, Columbus, and Wisconsin Dells, where police publication practices and booking routes differ.
  • Clear distinctions between a recent booking, current custody, a released status, a circuit-court case, and DOC custody.
  • Explanations of the daily booking report, VINELink notifications, court disposition information, and formal records requests.

Limits of a Private Reference Resource

Columbia County Busted Mugshots is independently operated and is not connected with a Wisconsin government agency, sheriff, jail, police department, corrections department, or court. It cannot hold or release anyone, confirm a custody result, produce an official record, post bond, or provide legal advice. Government records can have access limits, redactions, and changes in status that a private reference resource cannot decide.

  • It does not determine whether a person is currently in custody or has been released.
  • It does not create, alter, store, or publish official booking records or photographs.
  • It does not make a charge, an arrest, or a booking into proof of guilt.
  • It does not replace a lawyer, a court, or the official custodian of a record.

Booking details report an accusation and can change as a case proceeds. Every person is presumed innocent unless a court proves otherwise.

Search Partners

Some pages include search boxes supplied by independent providers. Those providers set their own results, terms, data practices, and any charges. If a visitor chooses a qualifying paid service through one of those tools, Columbia County Busted Mugshots may receive a referral fee. That revenue helps support the resource, but it does not change the official record paths or give this resource control over a provider’s search results.
